In 2001, she made her first film appearance as Jonali in the Assamese romantic drama movie Nayak.
Parineeta Borthakur was cast as Professor Vaishali in the 2009 Hindi-language action thriller film Kurbaan, starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
In 2011, she was seen as Maya’s sister in the Hindi-language action thriller film Force. A remake of the 2003 Tamil action-thriller film Kaakha Kaakha, the film stars John Abraham, Vidyut Jammwal, Genelia D’Souza, and Raj Babbar.
